8 years of competition tradition

Gastro kup srbija

The Gastro Cup Serbia is an international culinary competition held during the Tourism Fair in 2024 in Novi Sad. The competition, which is organized for the eighth time, is eagerly anticipated.

The organizers of the competition are the Novi Sad Fair, the Green Valley Association, and the Horeca Association Kragujevac. The aim of the competition is to promote and popularize gastronomy in Serbia and the region. It will take place from November 29th to 30th, 2024, in Novi Sad. Gastro Cup Serbia represents a competition that will occur on November 29th and 30th, 2024.

Considering that nearly all neighboring countries have large-scale competitions gathering chefs, kitchen heads, young hospitality entrepreneurs, and various guests and observers, we came up with the idea to organize such an event in Novi Sad, a city with significant potential for this type of competition. Novi Sad, in all aspects, deserves such an event. Its geographical location, multiculturalism, festival tradition, and one of the best secondary hospitality schools all create the prerequisites for a serious competition. This perspective has been recognized by the management of the Novi Sad Fair, which organizes competitions for secondary and higher schools, providing an excellent introduction and foundation that the senior competition would complement perfectly. The extensive international experience of our senior competitors, along with culinary associations at the national and international level participating in our competition, will create conditions for future hospitality professionals to familiarize themselves with both the advantages and challenges of this industry. During this event, our senior competitors will have the opportunity to exchange experiences with colleagues, promote their hospitality establishments, and make new connections, all with the goal of enhancing economic activity in Novi Sad, the Republic of Serbia, and the region, Europe, and the world. Additionally, successful entrepreneurs and hospitality professionals will have the chance to meet the greatest talents emerging from secondary and higher hospitality schools. The venue for the competition, the Novi Sad Fair, provides significant capacity from the start.

The Green Valley Association is an organization primarily focused on promoting a healthy and clean Serbia. The organization’s previous activities have aimed not only at environmental protection and informing Serbian citizens on this topic but also at developing youth entrepreneurship and promoting healthy lifestyles in both urban and rural areas.

This type of festival-competition exists in almost all European countries, and our judging team, which will be international, will ensure that the competition is conducted in a fair and proper manner.

We are also particularly pleased that accomplished hospitality professionals, as well as chefs from renowned restaurants and hotels, will have the opportunity to meet young talents competing in the festival. Employing young talents and young people in Serbia should be a priority for everyone, and through shared experiences and interactions on a topic that is the participants’ profession, there is a real chance for some of the young competitors to find future employers. These young people will also have the chance to learn new preparation techniques or, as they say in the culinary world, “the small secrets of great masters.” The lectures held during the competition, envisioned as a conference of master chefs, are of great importance both for the chefs themselves, who will engage in discussions on various culinary topics, and for the young competition participants, who will learn many new things.

This festival-competition has networked with similar or identical festivals in the country and region, and there are plans to collaborate with other festivals of this type across Europe in the coming years, with the help of the competitors themselves. It is imperative that everything is organized and executed at the level that Novi Sad deserves and that we elevate the event from last year’s level to a higher standard in both organizational and competitive terms. The immense potential of our festival is evident, as gastronomy is an inexhaustible source of ideas with no boundaries.
